Covent Garden - WC2
Covent Garden is one of London's most famous areas and visited by about 11 million people each year.
If you've just arrived at Covent Garden tube station and navigated the lifts taking you to street level, then you will find yourself right in the middle of the area.
Take a right hand turn from the tube station and walk down James Street to head towards the Piazza - the indoor markets and the traditional heart of Covent Garden. Alongside this is the Dr Martens shoe store and this part of the Piazza is often used for shows, presentations and street performers.
If you take a walk down Garrick St, you will see The Lamb and Flag pub on your right hand side. It's one of the oldest pubs in Covent Garden (from the early 17th century) and people like Charles Dickens, John Dryden and Samuel Johnson have all drunk there.
On the food side of things, you really are spoilt for choice. LondonEats.com has most Covent Garden restaurants listed along with many reviews (not just the tourist places).
