Stratford

Stratford has a history going back to Roman times, in fact the name itself means "Roman Street with a Ford (River Lea) crossing". However, its reputation has suffered over years because of high crime levels and poor housing conditions.

Its regeneration started back in the 1980s with the DLR line and Jubilee Line stations and then the huge shopping centre of Westfield.

The London 2012 Olympics has taken the regeneration much further with the new development of the Olympic Stadium, Velopark, Aquatic Centre and the Olympic Village - all of which will provide London and Stratford with a lasting legacy.

Stratford Station Stratford town centre has the post code E15, however the Olympic park has been newly issued E20 by the Royal Mail. E20 was the previously fictional post code of the BBC Soap EastEnders.

Regarding eateries, you will find some familiar names like Busaba Eathai Thai Restaurant, Harry Ramsden's Fish and Chips and Nando's Chicken. There are also upmarket newcomers like Jamie Oliver's Italian, Forman's British Restaurant and King Eddie's Gastro Pub.
