Customer reviews of Gili Gulu
Anthony Saturday, January 05, 2008 | Rating: Well ...my last review was not intended as a prophecy but Gili Gulu ceased trading and closed shortly before Christmas 2007. Shame really, because when I first went there about 5 years ago it was really great but slowly the standards of food declined and although I found the service adequate and typical of the ethnic origins of the staff I never had any bad experiences there during my 15 or so visits. In the last 18 months I did notice that there were fewer items of quality on the belt and the place was obvously in decline. I hope someone else can make the "all you can eat" concept work either in the same infrastrucure or somwhere else. 5704 |
Anthony Sunday, December 23, 2007 | Rating: I agree with previous comments about the scarcity of the salmon and tuna dishes in the last 12 months. It is almost as if they are operating a quota on the belt; like parents holding back the pudding until the sprouts are eaten: "Until you eat more of the boring dishes we won't put out any of the things you like". Unless the management supply more of the popular items they will lose many regular customers, including me. People should not have to insist on sitting at the start of the belt; it is unfair to the other diners but it is the only way to get good value.5671 |
sade Tuesday, June 26, 2007 | Rating: In it's early days I was there all the time, I poped in rescently and was shocked at how empty it was. this once vibrant place has all but disapeared. All the staff look unhappy, which is not surprising, and even though it's empty you wait a long time for drinks. The fish selection is limited too, hardly any salmon to be seen and went something intresting arrives on the belt everybody fights for it. Please do something about it management, it will be a shame to lose you. 5391 |
Vikk C Thursday, June 14, 2007 | Rating: I think some of these reviews are being really unfair! This place is such good value for money! The staff are nice enough as is the food, and like anything in life you get what you pay for. At £7.50 for 6 plates and a Miso soup, Gili Gulu is a bargin. The food is nice, the atmosphere is pleasent and the staff got round to you in the end, which for £7.50 is exactly what I'd expect. The perfect way to satisfy a sushi craving without breaking the bank. 5357 |
ml Sunday, July 30, 2006 | Rating: My experience in Gili Gulu, Queensway was absolutely horrible. The manager was very rude and the food was not fresh at all. I was NOT impressed. I have never been to a Gili Gulu ever since! 4550 |
