Moti Mahal is the chic London outpost of the celebrated Delhi restaurant which opened in 1959. 'An unexpected delight' (Hardens Guide), Moti Mahal presents its Grand Trunk Road menu. Inspired by the culinary roots of rural India, particularly along the famed Grand Trunk Road, Chef Anirudh Arora brings you time-honoured dishes and recipes. By accentuating new tastes and flavours from India's richly woven history, the new menu at Moti Mahal is a feast for the senses. A perfect setting, with curved glass-fronted kitchen and gleaming copper bar, and attentive service will transform your meal in a memorable experience, and Moti Mahal is also 'perfect before a show' (Zagat).

Moti Mahal offers traditional cuisine, with a strong emphasis on cooking using the Tandoor clay oven, and blends it with fresh modern decor and excellent service.

The a la carte menu has dishes such as Tandoori Murg (grilled half chicken marinated in chillies and cumin), Kadal Muthu Mappas (mussels, squid and monkfish simmered in coconut and curry leaf) and Laal Maas (a spicy lamb curry from Rajasthan).

Several times I have been to Moti now and each time becomes another adventure. Yes they occasionally let you down with a course and then just as you are thinking the affair is over they bring out another tastebud stunner.

My fish on the last visit was good and well cooked but had suffered for by waiting for the more complex dish my partner had, so it was cold - see my first paragraph!

Cost is almost too reasonable and I want to pay more....well not really but the value is astonishing.

Do yourself a favour and just try it for lunch...set menus are good value and they will always bring you a surprise.
