feefee147 Tuesday, September 11, 2012 | Awful place. I wouldn’t normally complain (life’s far too short) but this was so bad all round that I feel I have to. I went for lunch/early dinner with my parents before a show for their 45th wedding anniversary. Food was bearable, although portions pretty small. Service was absolutely dire. We ordered three starters - only two arrived. Chased the third and it finally arrived with the main meal. We ordered two curries and only received one tiny bowl of rice between two. Then they completely overcharged us - we ordered from 'special offer' set menus but when the bill arrived they had charged two at the offer prices and the third at the individual dish prices (I had the same food as the others but apparently I hadn’t specifically said ‘can I also have the set price menu’ when I ordered – so I therefore had exactly the same food at double the price and the staff felt this was completely acceptable). They also charged us for deserts as apparently we had chosen the wrong puddings that weren’t included in the set price menus (menu simply stated 'plus desert' and as we were given a desert menu we just chose something, we were not told we could only have specific ones). I won't even get started on the gratuity that they automatically put on the bill, which obviously I felt was certainly not justified on this visit. I gave up arguing after about 20 minutes as suddenly no one could speak English as far as the bill was concerned and the staff started getting quite nasty. Plus we only had a short bit of time before the theatre, and my parents were getting quite upset and I didn’t want to ruin their anniversary. So for lunch for three the bill came in at £63, according to the menu prices it should have been about £43. Trust me – DO NOT EAT HERE!!! There are so many restaurants to choose from in this area, please please please pick another! |
