Gordon Ramsay has excelled at Claridges, the most glamorous of Ramsay’s London restaurants. The sophisticated atmosphere is matched by dishes that are well timed, balanced and sauced. Starters include ballotine of foie gras poached in Sauternes with quail jelly and fresh pea salad. Mains include roast cannon of new-season lamb served with confit shoulder, white bean purée, baby leeks & rosemary jus. Expect to pay around £72 for dinner and drinks with a bottle of house wine costing £20. There is a fixed price lunch (3 courses) for £30.

This intimate restaurant has just had a modern face-lift and this time around our starters included Ravioli of lobster, langoustine and salmon and Fillet of red mullet with cod, pearl barley and spring onion risotto. For mains we chose Roasted then poached fillet of Northumberland beef, kohlrabi, horseradish cream and truffle and root vegetables, plus, Best end of Cornish lamb with confit shoulder, provencale vegetables, baby onions and walnuts and also, Pain fried fillet of pork with braised belly, baby langoustine, onion lyonnaise and a Madeira jus.

However, what made the evening for us were the canapes, amuse bouche and palette cleansers on offer before and in-between courses. The highlight of these included a full breakfast in an egg with layers of baked beans, scrambled egg and tomato inside an egg shell with a spoon of mushroom compote and a wafer thin slice of pork crackling.

The 3 course Lunch Menu is £40, A La Carte menu offers 3 courses for £85 and the Prestige Menu is 7 courses for £110. A bottle of house wine costs £15 and go upto several thousands of pounds from the extensive wine list.
